We are a successful and independent waste management and recycling company, currently seeking an experienced Transport Controller to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic, fast-paced depot that handles over 500 collections per day, utilising a diverse in-house fleet of Dustcarts, RoRos, Skips, and other commercial vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, route, and schedule vehicle movements to maximise efficiency and profitability.

  • Upload all collection data from PDAs to the central database accurately and on time.

  • Debrief drivers at the end of their shifts, ensuring all job and vehicle-related information is recorded.

  • Upload and manage driver tachograph data in line with compliance standards.

  • Monitor and record stock levels of containers held in storage.

  • Liaise with the Sales and Account Management teams to ensure operational needs are met.

  • Communicate with customers in the event of service delays or disruptions.

  • Log and track all driver defects, ensuring necessary action is taken swiftly.

  • Resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally.

  • Prepare and dispatch containers for delivery from the Storage Yard.

  • Accurately book jobs onto the system and ensure scheduling is up to date.

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with third-party contractors, especially during peak periods or for specialist services.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Proven experience in a similar transport or logistics coordination role, ideally within the waste or recycling sector.

  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise in a fast-moving environment.

  • Confident communicator, capable of liaising across teams and with customers.

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and take initiative to solve problems quickly.

  • IT literate, with experience using routing or transport management systems.

  • A focus on cost efficiency, safety, and delivering a high-quality service.

What We Offer:

  • The opportunity to work with a committed, supportive team in a growing company.

  • A varied and rewarding role with room for professional development.

  • A workplace where your contribution makes a real difference every day.
