Role Overview:We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Chef’s Assistant / Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly school kitchen team. The ideal candidate will support the chef in preparing, serving, and cleaning up after lunch for our pupils, ensuring meals are nutritious, timely, and served in a clean and safe environment. Menus are rotated seasonally & we pride ourselves in providing a varied, nutritious and balanced lunch for our children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the school chef with basic food preparation and plating
  • Set up and serve lunches to children in a timely and child-friendly manner
  • Ensure food is served in accordance with hygiene and safety standards
  • Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen and dining area, including washing up and sanitising equipment and surfaces
  • Assist with receiving and storing food deliveries
  • Support the smooth daily running of the school kitchen under the direction of the chef and school management

Person Specification:

  • Experience working in a kitchen or catering environment
  • A reliable, punctual, and proactive approach to work
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • A kind and calm manner with children
  • Ability to follow hygiene and health & safety procedures
  • Enhanced DBS check will be required
  • Food Health & Safety certificate
