Overview

We are seeking an accomplished and dynamic Learning and Development (L&D) Manager to lead and implement training initiatives across our portfolio of multi-site hotel properties. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in hospitality L&D, preferably within the Marriott brand ecosystem, and will be responsible for aligning training strategies with business goals to enhance employee performance, service delivery, and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic L&D plan that aligns seamlessly with our brand pillars of Belonging, Wellbeing, Changemaking, Sensitivity and Sustainability and brand standards (preferably Marriott).
  • Design, deliver and evaluate training programs, workshops, and e-learning modules focused on operations, guest service, leadership development, compliance and brand specific programs.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of Marriott’s brand training programs (e.g., Voyage, Elevate, Serve 360) across relevant properties.
  • Coach and support property-level trainers and department heads to promote a learning culture and drive continuous improvement.
  • Conduct training needs analyses (TNA) across departments to identify skill gaps and development priorities.
  • Track and report on training KPIs such as training completion rates, employee satisfaction, and performance outcomes.
  • Stay updated with Marriott training platforms (e.g., MGS, Learning Zone, myLearning) and ensure maximum utilization.
  • Manage the company online training platform Mapal.
  • Facilitate onboarding and orientation programs for all new hires, with consistency across locations.
  • Manage the three and six monthly check ins and apprailsals.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and legal training standards.
  • Collaborate with HR and operations to support succession planning and career pathing.
  • Champion a culture of engagement, well-being, and satisfaction through innovative initiatives that enhance the employee experience.
  • Contribute strategically to management meetings, offering valuable L&D insights and recommendations.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will demonstrate that they have the following key criteria, personal competencies and skills:

  • Extensive experience as a Learning & Development Manager, ideally within the luxury hospitality sector.
  • Proven knowledge of HR best practices, employment legislation, and industry trends.
  • Prior Marriott experience strongly preferred – understanding of brand standards and L&D systems essential.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver engaging training across all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel regularly to multiple hotel sites.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Professional, approachable demeanour with the ability to thrive under pressure.
