Introduction
We are seeking an Associate / Senior Associate to join Temasek's Public Markets team focusing on equity derivatives based in London. The Public Markets team is part of the Firm's Investment Group.
The derivative arm within Public Markets is responsible for the structuring and trading of all of the Firm's investment-related derivative transactions. The Firm uses derivatives for three primary purposes: (1) to enhance yield on the portfolio, (2) to protect the portfolio, and (3) to express macro-investment views. The team works seamlessly with the Firm's Investment Group, various discretionary mandates, as well as Portfolio Strategy Risk Group, and primarily focuses on OTC single stock, ETF and index equity derivatives, including vanilla call / put options and total return swaps. Other instruments covered include listed FLEX options trading, futures, ETFs.
The primary responsibility of the new position will be structuring and trading of the Firm's derivatives trades, with a primary focus on EMEA and US. The ideal candidate is expected to have good understanding of equity derivatives, and their uses in the context of investment. S/he should be numerate, with excellent attention to detail and flexibility and willingness to learn about new products as the team grows. Communication skills, and ability to work well within different project teams are also crucial to succeed - the team works very closely with Singapore derivatives team, as well as different functions to structure transactions, which are eventually formally presented to investment committee for approval.

The ideal candidate should have:
- Good existing understanding of equity derivatives, and various uses in an investment context
- Direct relevant experience in equity derivatives is preferred
- Experience in dealing with trade term sheet / structured trade documentation will be a plus
- Keen interest in financial markets and investing
- Strong Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel skills
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Energetic and willing to learn
- Team player and ability to work well across different functions
- VBA/Programming related skills would be useful, but not essential
- Trading, and support the team in management of existing derivatives positions
- Structuring of solutions for the firm's investment needs
- Pricing and valuation of new and existing derivatives trades
- Preparation of presentations, analyses, and investment materials
- Presenting ideas internally, and at investment committee
- Assisting with longer-term organizational or team projects
- Detail oriented, self-motivated team player with excellent communications skills
- Level: 1 - 3 years of relevant derivative experience in trading, or structuring (either from public side such as structuring desk, or private side such as equity linked origination or strategic equity desk). Candidates who have done at least 6-month of internship in relevant derivatives field of an Investment Bank can also be considered.
- Asset Class: Equity derivatives preferred, but strong experience in other asset classes with willingness to learn equities can be considered
