Job Summary
We’re hiring a motivated and ambitious team assistant to join our collaborative and dynamic Partnerships and Philanthropy fundraising team. Our perfect candidate will be a team-player, very organised, and have great attention to detail. In this job, you’ll be an important coordinator for the team, making sure our systems and processes work seamlessly, identifying new donors, and helping our amazing supporters feel valued and inspired at every step of their journey with Bowel Cancer UK.
You’ll also be supported to have hands-on fundraising experience including writing proposals to secure gifts from trusts and foundations and helping our corporate partners raise as much money as they can for our fantastic cause.
You’ll be instrumental in helping our team to reach our ambitious fundraising targets and ultimately improving the lives of everyone affected by bowel cancer.

What You'll Be Doing
Supporting income generation
- Complete prospect research on new high value supporters. This includes using research tools to identify new trusts and foundations to apply to, and completing desk-based research into potential corporate partners
- Deliver tasks as required to support the Partnership team’s new business activity, such as identifying corporates, updating the Charity of the Year list and managing the pipelines
- Support the delivery of brilliant corporate partnerships, such as helping companies running their own challenge events or fundraisers
- Writing inspiring thank you letters and reports for supporters
- Responding to queries and opportunities through the partnerships inbox
- Potential to manage a portfolio of small trusts and foundations and corporate partners, writing compelling bids and updates to inspire them about our work
- Support the Partnerships and Philanthropy team to keep the charity’s supporter database (Raisers Edge) up to date
- Supporting the Partnerships team and getting exposure to corporate fundraising by joining internal and external meetings to take notes and circulating actions
- Support the Interim Directorate Officer with accurately allocating and managing income and expenses at a team level
- Ensure conformance with current and evolving fundraising regulation and guidance
- Attending training sessions and conferences, sharing your learnings with the wider team
- Undertake any other duties as required by the Partnerships and Philanthropy team, and Director of Fundraising.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt style appropriately and deal with supporters or external stakeholders at all levels
- Knowledge of all Microsoft packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint Teams and Outlook
- Ability to work under pressure, manage time effectively and be able to prioritise workload
- Excellent attention to detail and methodical approach to tasks
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from across the charity and contribute ideas to team planning and discussion sessions
- Warm and friendly manner and enjoy building relationships
- Self-sufficient and happy to initiate, implement and complete tasks with minimal supervision
- Understanding of and commitment to the values, aims and objectives of the charity
