Zest Education is working in partnership with a specialist SEN school in North/Northwest London that caters for students aged 9 to 16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
We’re currently recruiting for a Trainee Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team on a full-time basis.
You don’t need school experience – we’re looking for people with transferable skills from sectors such as youth work, coaching, mental health, residential care, or customer service. If you’re calm, resilient, and ready to make a difference, we want to hear from you.
What you’ll be doing:

Building trust and positive relationships with students who may have experienced trauma or disrupted upbringings

Supporting young people in the classroom and around school

Helping students access their learning and manage emotions throughout the day

Working closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals

Ability to stay calm under pressure and manage challenging behaviours positively

A genuine interest in special education and supporting students with additional needs

Zest Education are an APSCo audited agency and are dedicated to safeguarding children. All candidates must hold an enhanced DBS (or allow us to process one for you) and be registered to the DBS Update Service, be able to provide references to cover the last two years and successfully pass all other necessary safeguarding checks prior to clearance for work.
Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
The role advertised is for temporary supply work.
