Research Scientist, GenAI Speech (London) - #1716253

The GenAI Speech team is looking for a Research Scientist (Speech and Language). The GenAI Speech team works on large language models (LLMs) with native supporting for processing, understanding and generating of audio and speech as a modality besides others such as text or vision. As part of this, we are leveraging knowledge in areas like speech/audio encoders/tokenizer, pre-training, post-training, (online) reinforcement learning, LLM alignment, multimodal modelling, speech and audio processing, speech recognition (ASR), speech synthesis (TTS), and multilingual modelling. Our work is focused on advancing core technologies to drive and advance core product experiences at Meta such as Meta AI which is available on e.g. RayBan Meta glasses or within WhatsApp.

Research Scientist, GenAI Speech (London) Responsibilities:

• Lead research to advance audio and speech technologies using large language models that can be applied to a wide area of Meta production use cases.
• Work towards long-term ambitious research and production goals, while identifying intermediate milestones.
• Influence progress of relevant research communities by producing publications.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ph.D. and established track record of leading and/or contributing to influential research, such as as evidenced by high-impact publications at peer-reviewed AI conferences (e.g. Interspeech, ICASSP, ASRU, SLT, NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICLR, ICCV, ACL)
• Experience in generative AI research, especially in building and optimising large language models for areas of audio/ speech processing and understanding, computer vision and/or natural language understanding.
• Experience communicating research for public audiences of peers, as well as non-technical audiences.
• Experience in leading theoretical and empirical research and for answering questions with research.
• Experience in training, fine-tuning, and/or experimenting with foundation models beyond black-box use.
• Familiarity with one or more deep learning frameworks (e.g. pytorch, tensorflow, …).
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2+ years of work experience in a faculty, industry, or government research position with primary emphasis on AI research.
• Experience in building large language models for audio/ speech processing, understanding, and generation.
• Experience driving original scholarship in collaboration with a team.
• Experience in developing and debugging in C/C++, Python, PyTorch.
