Shore Capital Markets is an independent equity-focused investment bank with expertise in corporate broking services, advising over 90 corporate clients. Our services include corporate broking, advisory, equity research, equity sales, market making / trading with a focus on equity capital markets (IPOs, placings and sell-downs) and mergers & acquisitions, including dual-track processes. Our team is approximately 125-strong, working out of our offices in London and Liverpool.

The Corporate Broking team works alongside our advisory business and together has c.25 professionals in total. We are retained Corporate Advisor & Broker to over 90 clients: including household names such as Marks & Spencer and Sainsbury’s. The group is focused on a range of sectors: Consumer, Food & Retail, Financial Services, Technology, Healthcare, Industrials & Business Services, Metals & Mining, Oil & Gas, Real Estate and Investment Trusts. We focus on high quality UK businesses of all sizes from micro-cap to FTSE 100, with over 20 equity research analysts. We have a strong trading platform with c.40 staff in market making & execution (the firm is the third largest market maker on AIM).

The Role

The Corporate Broking Team is looking to add a Senior Analyst or Associate based in our London office. You will have the chance to work in an entrepreneurial role, directly supporting our senior team to drive the continued growth of the business. This ensures that you will also have high client exposure. The team has a number of ongoing mandates and is looking for candidates that can help execution from day one. You will work on a variety of projects including equity capital raises, both private and public, M&A sell-sides and assist in day-to-day corporate broking activity.

Your role will include:

• Preparing presentation materials and financial analysis to support Board-level advice given on key decisions and investment banking projects
• Helping the CEO & CFO to communicate their equity story to potential investors or acquirors
• Working closely with the client and other advisers to ensure all workstreams on transactions are progressed as effectively as possible
• Staying well informed on the equity and other fund-raising markets to produce materials and updates for clients
• Identifying and tracking potential business opportunities
• Preparing marketing materials to help win new business

Qualifications and experience

The ideal candidate would possess the following qualities and background:

•  A strong academic track record with at least a 2:1 or equivalent degree, numerate degrees preferred
•  2-4 years’ experience within a Corporate Finance or investment banking team, Big 4 accountancy or Equity Capital Markets team (Transaction Services – will also be considered)
• Corporate finance deal experience, including sell-side, buy-side or minority capital raises
• Knowledge of the equity raising options available to private & public companies
• Understanding of the different valuation methodologies used by investors and the research analyst community with the ability to produce financial models and valuation assessments
• Ability to produce timely market updates and analysis
• Genuine passion for financial markets, particularly equity markets
• Good interpersonal skills / ability to deal with clients, other advisers and colleagues
• Excellent work ethic, attention to detail and the ability to independently produce materials of a high standard
• Familiarity with some of the following information providers: Pitchbook, Factset, Dealogic, Refinitiv (Thomson Reuters) / IFR, Merger Market, Bloomberg
