Today, most of our revenue comes from businesses. We are well set up for large corporates and institutions, as we have broad capabilities (across Real Estate, Corporate and Transactions, Litigation and Dispute Resolution, Employment, IP, Innovation and Impact) but an innovative, agile approach you won't find at larger global firms. Clearly this muscular offering requires a different type of approach to winning business, which makes pitching more important.
There are business development leads, designers, lawyers, developers, knowledge lawyers, and other specialists throughout the firm who excel in delivering creative, compelling pitches and our win rate is high. We are now a size where we need someone to come in and help us improve our pitching approach and systems, so we can deliver more pitches, be more proactive in our approach to larger clients, improve the quality of our outputs and ultimately bring in more new business. This is a new role so a good opportunity to help shape our approach and build this critical capability.
This is a role which involves working with some of the best minds in the industry across all our legal and operational departments, to turbo charge our pitching capability and make a significant contribution to the firm's continued success.
The Department
You would be part of the marketing and sales team, within the central business development function. The business development team delivers key services, including Intermediary Development, Client Acquisition and Development, Insights, Events, Comms and PR, Digital Marketing, Brand and Sales.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Manage the pitching process to help streamline operations, reduce bottlenecks, and increase efficiency, resulting in cross-departmental learning and insights.
- Optimise resource allocation, ensuring the right people get involved at the right time.
- Improve pitch response quality, ultimately helping to convert more opportunities.
- Work with central resources to improve data governance, pitch tools, processes and systems.
- Develop deep expertise in pitching techniques, best practice, and client needs.
- Coordinate pitching across practice areas, ensure real-time data updates in a single source of truth; drive standardisation and automation.
- Build relationships across the business, enabling more consistent communication and best practice; make sure the brand comes through clearly in our responses.
- Help with cleaning data and ensuring it's updated; maintain a clear ownership and system maintenance responsibilities and a single source of truth for data and pitching inputs.
- Proactively scan for opportunities, including upcoming panel renewals for defined targets of the firm's departments.
- Play an active role in meeting new business targets and helping the firm win more business.
- Delivering pitches within complex organizations.
- Working with multiple stakeholders, building trust and good relationships.
- Standardizing pitches and associated processes; working with stakeholders to ensure data is regularly updated.
