Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Estimator to join our commercial team in Romford, Essex. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for social housing projects, including planned maintenance, refurbishment, and minor new builds. This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator looking to progress within a reputable and growing business.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for social housing projects.

Analyse drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost breakdowns.

Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing.

Conduct site visits and surveys to inform the estimating process.

Work closely with the pre-construction and project management teams to ensure estimates align with project goals.

Evaluate and manage risk within tenders.

Contribute to value engineering solutions and alternative methods of delivery.

Maintain and update pricing databases and estimating software.
Requirements
-
Minimum 3–5 years’ experience working as an estimator for a main contractor.

Proven track record of estimating social housing projects (refurbishment, maintenance, or new build).

Strong understanding of SORs (Schedule of Rates) and public sector procurement processes.
-
Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
-
Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software such as Conquest, Causeway, or similar.

Strong negotiation and communication skills.
-
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
-
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites as required.
