Our BT Workplace team provide a full range of building maintenance services to their 7,000 buildings in the UK, from commercial offices and telephone exchanges to call centres and retail shops. The role: Trainee Principal Designer (Fixed Term Contract) The role is for someone from either a Design or Health and Safety background looking develop into in to the Principal Designer role. The focus is on the CDM Principal Designer however opportunity to gain an understanding of the of the Building Safety Act Principal Designer will be provided. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate knowledge of construction Health and Safety and have a good working knowledge of the CDM regulations 2015. In addition, it is expected that the candidate will understand and have worked with Construction Phase Health and Safety Plans (CPPs), Preconstruction Information Packs (PCIP), Risk Registers and Health and Safety Files. You will be joining a close-knit team of professionals who work across a wide range of national construction projects. The role will require the ideal candidate to manage their own time to meet with stake holders and manage workloads under the direction of their regional manager. Travel within the UK is expected although this will be kept regional as far as possible with periodic travel to London required. Key responsibilities are as follows: * Production of relevant CDM documentation.* Supporting the project delivery team in managing construction design risk* Undertake site visits/audits to provide advise on Health and Safety improvements* Supporting delivery of the CDM Principal Designer role.* Drive improvements in the supply chain Health and Safety.* Support the wider QHSE team.* Act as a point of contact for the projects team regarding CDM/Health and Safety matters. Person Specification: * Experience in a similar role ideally within construction.* Hold a NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent and ideally a member of IOSH.* Hold or be working towards a IMAPs or similar* Hold a current UK driving licence* Good organisational skills.* Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate with a broad range of stakeholders.* Drive and enthusiasm with the willingness to learn, develop and grow in the role.
