Job Description

The Role:

Data Strategy is a global team that supports the Equity Research Department and its Analysts by helping to incorporate alternative data into their research reports and methodology, utilising the team’s knowledge and skills to help facilitate this process. It also interfaces with data vendors, proactively collaborating to strengthen these relationships.

We are keen to hire a talented Data Scientist to take ownership of this function for EMEA Equity Research.

Key Responsibilities:

• Take ownership of the Data Strategy function across EMEA
• Use Python and SQL to solve problems, analyse data and implement research ideas from internal stakeholders
• Research, design, develop and routinely evaluate generative AI algorithms to support Equity Research and enhance performance
• Collaborate with research teams on thesis generation, data usage and the integration of alternative datasets into our fundamental research product
• Maintain and build relationships with colleagues in Equity Research and external data vendors
• Train users on tools and other automated processes
• Serve as a point of contact for US-based colleagues in the Data Strategy Team to continually expand data-awareness within the department
• Take ownership of a wide range of data projects using project management skills to meet deadlines and manage the whole workflow
  
  

Requirements:

• Experience in a transferable role, working as a Data Scientist or similar
• A high level of proficiency in Python and SQL
• A deep understanding of generative AI and experience building applications with large foundation models
• Proficiency in Databricks, BitBucket/Jira/Confluence, Apache Spark (PySpark) and AWS is advantageous
• Degree/Master’s educated in Data Science or a related subject – e.g. Statistics, Computer Science, etc.
• A working knowledge of fundamental equity research and fundamental financial modelling would be helpful
• Excellent organisation skills and experience in project management
• A genuine passion for utilising large datasets and AI as a means to inform and tell a story
