Apollo

Who we are:

Apollo is a specialised independent (re)insurer, established in 2009, to deliver top-tier products and services to clients, brokers, and capital partners at Lloyd’s. The name "Apollo" was inspired by the achievements of one of its founding investors, Neil Armstrong, the first person to walk on the moon in 1969. Together with Jim Hays, Neil identified an opportunity to create a unique service provider within Lloyd’s.

Since its inception, Apollo has significantly broadened its portfolio of insurance solutions. This includes Apollo 1969’s traditional and specialty lines, ibott 1971’s innovative sharing economy products, and managing agency services at Lloyd’s through our Platform Partner Syndicates. Today, Apollo continues to grow with team of over 280 professionals dedicated to fulfilling the company’s mission of enabling a resilient and sustainable world.

“We attract and retain a diverse range of talent by fostering an inclusive, equitable team environment where individuals from all backgrounds have opportunities to grow, succeed, and contribute. We empower our teams to achieve excellence and drive forward-thinking solutions, aiming to enable a resilient and sustainable world.” - David Ibeson, Group CEO

Your Role:

We’re looking for a visionary and delivery-focused Head of Digital Enablement to lead the charge in transforming how we build, deliver, and evolve digital solutions across our business. This is a strategic leadership role, acting as the crucial translation layer between cross functional capabilities.

You will champion a product-centric, user-centred, and data-informed mindset, helping us move beyond traditional IT project delivery into a more agile, outcome-oriented approach. By shaping virtual squads and building a dedicated capability in UX/UI, business analysis, and digital delivery, you’ll drive tangible value across underwriting, risk, finance, and other key domains. You’ll ensure our solutions aren’t only user-friendly and scalable, but also deeply grounded in data insights, predictive modelling and emerging AI capabilities.

What you’ll do:

  • Champion digital and data-enabled ways of working, driving the adoption of product thinking, agile delivery, and insight-led design throughout the organisation.
  • Build and lead a small, high-impact team of UX/UI designers, business analysts, and product-focused professionals to support delivery excellence.
  • Orchestrate virtual squads that bring together expertise from across engineering, data science, and technology, aligned around business areas or core products.
  • Ensure that data insights, predictive analytics, and AI opportunities are embedded into digital products from the outset.
  • Serve as a strategic translator, building common understanding across cross functional capabilities.
  • Act as the interface between strategy and execution, aligning digital initiatives with organisational priorities and enabling faster, better delivery of value.
  • Define and embed frameworks for discovery, prioritisation, and continuous improvement, ensuring digital and data investments focus on what matters most.
  • Coach and support internal teams in adopting modern digital practices, bringing clarity, structure, and energy to transformation efforts.
  • Help shape the cultural and behavioural change needed to move from siloed delivery models to collaborative, cross-functional data and outcome driven product teams.
  • Champion the responsible use of data and AI in product development, balancing innovation with governance, ethics, and user trust.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience leading digital transformation, product enablement, or agile capability building, with a strong focus on data driven products.
  • Strong understanding of modern digital delivery practices, including agile methodologies, user-centred design, lean product development, and experimentation frameworks.
  • Exposure to or experience working with data science, analytics, or AI teams, ideally integrating insight into digital products and services.
  • Proven ability to translate strategic objectives into actionable digital roadmaps and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success in building or managing cross-functional teams, ideally in a matrix or virtual squad model.
  • A track record of driving organisational mindset and cultural change—you know how to bring people with you on the journey.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills; able to engage senior stakeholders, coach team members, and facilitate cross-functional alignment.

What you will get in return:

Our compensation package is designed to attract top talent. In addition to a fair and attractive salary, this role offers a discretionary bonus and a comprehensive range of benefits, including 31 days of annual leave, a non-contributory pension and private medical insurance.

Our Commitment to Inclusion:

Apollo is a growing and diverse team of empowered and passionate experts who focus on bringing innovation, data driven decision making and collaboration to every relationship and every risk. To meet the needs of a demanding global insurance market, we need a diverse workforce that truly understands the international communities we serve.

That is why we're focused on developing diverse talent at every level; inclusion and diversity means more to us than just chasing a target and we are committed to supporting and celebrating difference. Our people are at the heart of our business which is why we value the diversity of thought and talent of every member of our team.

We offer a range of support and run a programme of events and training that recognise the challenges and opportunities relating to diversity.

Hybrid & flexible working:

At Apollo, hybrid and flexible working is fully embraced and we do not see the benefit of presenteeism. We understand that no two colleagues are alike, and as such we support the ability to remain agile and achieve a home and work balance to best suit business and personal commitments.
