Defence Researchers report to our Research Lead and provide project-specific equipment updates for our Defence Insight database, as well as support the work of our team of Defence Analysts.

The Role Accountabilities

The Accountabilities Within The Role Include
- conducting open-source desk research on military equipment (these data are then entered into our online database tool in line with relevant methodologies);
- working on data projects to develop specific data sets to support the analysis team in building data models and methodologies;
- monitoring news and events, and providing daily updates on the Defence Insight database;
- working collaboratively with business development, editorial, analysis, product and marketing teams;
- using the data we hold in Defence Insight and content generated by our editorial team to create market forecasts and bespoke reports.
Were looking for candidates with:
- a passion for defence;
- experience and/or knowledge of the defence sector and/or military equipment;
- a proactive approach to research and the ability to identify, use and synthesise information from multiple perspectives and sources;
- an enquiring mind and an ability to communicate clearly and effectively;
- attention to detail, working well with both numerical data and qualitative writing;
- fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Bachelors degree or recent graduate in a relevant field or equivalent relevant work experience
- adherence to our company values;
- a 35-hour working week;
- availability to attend our quarterly company meetings in person;
- a business quality internet connection in your home (your place of work) in order to carry out this role effectively;
- a willingness to work within the EOS framework, which is the management operating system implemented by Shephard;
- The right to work in the UK unfortunately, we are unable to consider applicants based outside of the UK and Shephard will not be sponsoring visas for this role.
