Defence Insight, our market intelligence tool, combines platform data, procurement programmes, news and analysis, enabling our clients to identify new opportunities, understand market dynamics and gain insight into their competition.

Defence Researchers report to our Research Lead and provide project-specific equipment updates for our Defence Insight database, as well as support the work of our team of Defence Analysts.

The Role Accountabilities

(Initial full-time contract for six months with potential for extension)

The Accountabilities Within The Role Include

• conducting open-source desk research on military equipment (these data are then entered into our online database tool in line with relevant methodologies);
• working on data projects to develop specific data sets to support the analysis team in building data models and methodologies;
• monitoring news and events, and providing daily updates on the Defence Insight database;
• working collaboratively with business development, editorial, analysis, product and marketing teams;
• using the data we hold in Defence Insight and content generated by our editorial team to create market forecasts and bespoke reports.
  
  

Skills & Experience Required

Were looking for candidates with:

• a passion for defence;
• experience and/or knowledge of the defence sector and/or military equipment;
• a proactive approach to research and the ability to identify, use and synthesise information from multiple perspectives and sources;
• an enquiring mind and an ability to communicate clearly and effectively;
• attention to detail, working well with both numerical data and qualitative writing;
• fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree or recent graduate in a relevant field or equivalent relevant work experience

• a business quality internet connection in your home (your place of work) in order to carry out this role effectively;
• a willingness to work within the EOS framework, which is the management operating system implemented by Shephard;
• The right to work in the UK unfortunately, we are unable to consider applicants based outside of the UK and Shephard will not be sponsoring visas for this role.
