We are currently recruiting for a brand-new Legal & Compliance Assistant vacancy, to work in the London office of our client, a highly regarded US law firm.
This is a full-time, permanent opportunity to work as part of their close-knit London team. The role offers excellent exposure, providing support to the firm’s compliance function, General Counsel and wider legal practice groups.
The successful applicant will take ownership of all administrative compliance tasks and effectively communicate with various teams across the business. This is a crucial role and will ensure the firm upholds its ability to develop, coordinate and implement consistent best practice and standards.
Typical responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Performing Customer Due Diligence (CDD) checks using internal software systems
- Performing anti-money laundering (AML) and sanctions screening checks using screening tools
- Assisting with and organising CDD documents with the document management system
- Maintaining various regulatory schedules
- Assisting with ensuring full compliance with accredited trade associations, regulations and codes of practice
- Liaising with and assisting the PA group on compliance queries/issues
- Working closely with the Tax team on regulations
- Working closely with the Legal Support function to ensure best practice in policy & procedure reviews
- Assisting with auditor requests
- Assisting with the administration of Pro Bono activities
- Assisting with the administration of the Firm’s trade memberships
- Working with finance colleagues to ensure compliance with client monies
- Working closely with new joining fee-earners regarding compliance induction training
- Assisting with ad-hoc project-based tasks
This is an excellent opportunity for a driven candidate to enjoy great exposure in a collaborative environment. Suitable applicants will be degree educated and have gained some prior compliance and administrative experience in a legal or professional services environment.
A keen interest in a legal and compliance career is essential, as well as strong communication skills, attention to detail skills and a can-do attitude.
A highly competitive salary of up to £35-40,000 is on offer, plus benefits, and 3:2 hybrid working arrangements are in place.
