Your Responsibilities
- Own major environmental areas from concept to completion, maintaining artistic vision and technical standards.
- Design, model, and texture stylized assets—organic and hard-surface—using a modular, efficient workflow.
- Collaborate with the Art Director and Design Leads to define biomes and support gameplay-driven worldbuilding.
- Mentor junior artists, provide feedback, and uphold quality across the environment art team.
- Take an active role in environment performance optimization (draw calls, poly counts, texture budgets).
- Support and review outsourced work, guiding integration into Unreal Engine with consistency and polish.
- Develop solutions to technical art challenges and champion smart, scalable workflows.
- Help shape the visual tone through lighting input, mood boards, and creative ideation.
- 5+ years of experience in game art, with at least one stylised, shipped console title.
- Experience with or passion for stylised game/media aesthetics, particularly titles like Ori or Arcane.
- Advanced skills in Maya/Blender, ZBrush, Photoshop, Substance Painter/Designer.
- Proven experience in Unreal Engine, with a focus on real-time environment implementation and optimization.
- Strong understanding of modular workflows, PBR materials, and environmental storytelling.
- Familiar with gameplay integration, gamepad camera behavior, and player readability for console titles.
- Strong communicator and collaborator—comfortable providing direction, receiving feedback, and owning results.
- Self-directed, proactive, and passionate about quality, craft, and clear visual communication.
- Deep understanding of how lighting setups in Unreal Engine enhance level legibility, mood and atmosphere.
- Experience in shader creation to achieve unique, stylized visual effects.
- Knowledge of VFX and particle systems to add depth and life to environments.
