Our client is a forward-thinking business offering expert planning, design, and environmental services across the UK. Known for their collaborative approach and deep-rooted regional knowledge, they work on a wide range of projects - from strategic land and residential developments to complex public sector schemes. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, sustainable outcomes, they are looking for a commercially astute Associate who's ready to lead, inspire, and shape the built environment.

The Role As Associate Planner, you'll play a central role in leading planning projects, managing client relationships, and mentoring junior colleagues. You'll work closely with the senior leadership team to help drive the business forward, while continuing to develop your own planning expertise and leadership profile.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Leading planning applications and appeals across a range of residential and public sector developments
  • Preparing and submitting local plan representations
  • Managing client relationships and advising on project strategy
  • Overseeing project delivery - on time, on budget, and to technical standards
  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the planning team
  • Contributing to business development through fee proposals and networking
  • Building effective relationships with architects, engineers, local authorities, and consultants
  • Providing strategic planning advice and navigating complex planning policy
  • Driving innovation and best practice within the planning process
  • Acting as a senior voice within the business, contributing to team culture and growth

Requirements:

  • RTPI accredited degree or Master's in Planning or a related discipline
  • Chartered or working towards chartered membership of the RTPI
  • Minimum of two years post-qualification experience in the planning industry
  • Strong understanding of the UK planning system and current legislation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven experience in project management and client liaison
  • Commercial awareness and confidence in preparing proposals and negotiating terms
  • Desire to mentor and develop junior team members

What's on Offer?

  • Private medical insurance and health cash plan
  • Enhanced pension scheme and death in service cover
  • Enhanced annual leave, loyalty leave, and hybrid working
  • Company bonus scheme and regular team socials
  • Continuous CPD support, protected training time, and clear progression framework
  • Discounts on top brands including Apple, Amazon, gym memberships, and more

This is an opportunity to join a team that values innovation, integrity, and people - where you'll have the chance to make a lasting impact on projects and communities while advancing your own career.
