The role may be worked in a hybrid manner (Head Office, nursery settings and remotely).

The Finance Assistant will provide support to the Bursars, Financial Controller and Finance Director for the finance functions across Little Dukes, Nurseries.

Qualifications

Essential

  • 5 GCSEs at Grade C (4) or above or equivalent including Maths and English.
  • Knowledge of basic financial procedures, policies and accounting code structures.
  • Ability to identify errors and make corrections to financial records.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word etc.)

Desirable

  • AAT degree or Equivalent.
  • Familiarity with making payments / submitting receipts via the BACS system.

Experience

  • Experience of performing control account reconciliations including bank reconciliations .
  • Experience of utilising a computerised financial system (Xero, Sage or similar packages).
  • Experience of tracing transactions from a management information system to an accounting system and vice versa.

  • Ability to liaise closely with internal colleagues and external agencies.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Good telephone manner.
  • Administrative and basic IT skills.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Flexible attitude.
  • A logical and methodical approach with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems quickly and effectively.
  • Ability to work on own initiative without detailed direction. Proactive attitude to resolve issues.

General Responsibilities

  • Assisting Financial Controller wherever required.
  • Developing good working relationships with stakeholders - Nursery Principals & Heads, Parents, Registrars, Suppliers and other members of LD finance function.
