Building Safety Legal Regulation Manager

Goodman Masson is delighted to be working with a forward-thinking organisation at the forefront of building safety and legal compliance. We are currently seeking a Building Safety Legal Regulation Manager to play a pivotal role in driving legal redress, ensuring compliance with new safety legislation, and supporting regulatory processes across a diverse property portfolio.
The Role:
As Building Safety Legal Regulation Manager, you will lead on complex legal matters relating to building safety, including the pursuit of responsible third parties for cladding remediation costs. You'll work closely with legal advisors, internal teams, and senior leadership to resolve disputes, manage legal processes, and ensure full compliance with the Building Safety Act.
Key Responsibilities:
Cladding Financial Redress & Legal Disputes
- Lead legal action against responsible third parties to secure financial recovery for cladding remediation.
- Work with internal/external legal partners to review contracts, settlements, and implement the appropriate dispute resolution mechanisms.
- Manage First-tier Tribunal (FtT) applications, appeals, and related legal processes.
- Provide legal advice for 'without prejudice' negotiations to reach settlement agreements.
- Support in managing Remediation Contribution Orders and legal escalations across civil courts and the FtT.
Building Safety Act Regulation
- Ensure timely registration and certification of high-risk buildings with the Building Safety Regulator.
- Monitor compliance with any conditions attached to the Building Registration Certificate.
- Report structural or fire safety issues and enforce compliance notices as required.
Legal Access Procedures
- Oversee access to customer homes for safety works, ensuring all legal avenues and documentation are appropriately managed.
- Develop and monitor risk policy milestones to support legal compliance and enforcement.
Leadership & Governance
- Line manage and develop a small enforcement team.
- Provide expert guidance and contribute to wider strategic planning.
- Uphold data protection and health & safety regulations in all operations.
About You:
Essential:
- A qualifying law degree (LLB) or equivalent legal conversion qualification (CPE/GDL).
- Strong knowledge of dispute resolution mechanisms and legal frameworks.
- Experience leading without prejudice meetings and producing reports for senior stakeholders.
- Understanding of the Building Safety Act and residential tenancy law.
Desirable:
- Completion of the Legal Practice Course (LPC).
- Membership with the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
