Horizon Teachers are happy to be working closely with a primary school in the London borough of Barnet assisting their search for a full time SEN teaching assistant in reception from September through to the end of the academic year. This is a school that believes wholeheartedly in their values, and as a result of the school promoting spiritual, moral and social developments, all students are keen and ready to learn which also reflects in their behaviour towards staff and their peers. As an EYFS teaching assistant, you will be expected to do the following:
- Working 1:1 with the student, to give them the time and support they need in order to learn.
- Assisting the child in their educational and social development including creativity and play-based learning to encourage the development of their skills.
- Managing any challenging behaviour that may occur and using initiative to find a resolution
- Provide support inside and outside of the classroom, so they can fully engage in a wide range of activities.
- Help to set up activities for the day, using technology or adjusting the environment to suit the child's needs.
- Experience supporting children with SEN in primary or secondary settings
- The eagerness to work alongside SEN students and actively build your skills
- A positive and proactive work ethic
- Can remain calm under pressure and can use their initiative in challenging scenarios
- A genuine passion for working with children with SEN
- Although not essential, this school is happy to accept any SEN or education related qualification as a bonus
