As part of this role, you’ll be responsible for supporting the food team with the day to day running of the test kitchen, sample requests, product tastings and presentations. You’ll be creating and delivering on our briefs alongside our manufacturing suppliers to develop new concepts and innovations within our food category to provide the best offering for our customers.
We’ll look to you to bring your experience within food or beverage retail or manufacturing product development. Ideally you’ll have qualifications in a food science or related discipline, but most importantly you’ll bring your passion for food and innovation. It would be great if you’ve had experience in chilled ready to eat products and bakery, but most importantly we’re looking for you to have strong commercial acumen, excellent project management and communication skills with the ability to work in a fast-moving environment.

The best part about this role is that no two days are ever the same! Working as our food developer, you’ll get involved in:
- Gathering, analysing and maintaining product and technology market trend information
- Supporting idea generation sessions to initiate the creation of new food concepts and products to support the food cateogory across the market
- Creating product development briefs that support market calendar pipeline and overall food strategy in line with our brand standards
- Leveraging, driving and managing our supplier base to develop new concepts and innovation against the briefs
- Coordinating bench top experiments and tests, including product prototypes, guidance testing recommendations, plant trials and in-market testing to develop operational procedures
- Identifying and briefing potential suppliers and managing their development of key ingredients and products
- Establishing key technical performance indicators and measures to ensure progress to commercialisation and implementation within project timelines
- Supporting the new product process in ensuring new products get to stores, consulting on training materials with retail operations and supporting with any product training and the launch to meet our quality standards
- Coordinating reviews post campaign launch
- Maintaining project files, developing technical manuals and documents for all new development projects
- Supporting and completing relevant tasks to support campaign readiness
