We are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to join our existing team in supporting our students at Harris Boys' Academy East Dulwich.
Main Areas of Responsibility
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Supporting students on the SEND / AEN Register
- Helping students access support and understand the causes and consequences of their behaviours, and to modify their behaviours to gain greater academic success
- Working closely with all academy staff to ensure that information is shared as appropriate to improve directly studnets' academic success
- Staffing the learning support department, supporting students who need timetabled time for academic study
- Knowing and understanding the learning needs of all students
- Liaising with staff to ensure that students can make maximum progress
- Supporting the learning and social development of students, including planning and delivering support sessions to small groups and 1:1
- Where appropriate, meeting with other external professionals to meet the needs of individual students
We would like to hear from you if you have:
- At least 3 x A-Levels or Level 3 qualifications and a good pass in GCSE English and Maths
- A basic understanding of the emotional and physical development of adolescent young men and boys
- Basic knowledge of strategies that can improve self- esteem and self-efficacy to ensure students can grow in their well-being and achievements
- Ability to deal sensitively with difficult or stressful situations in a professional manner whilst managing and prioritising your own caseload
- Ability to work in a creative and flexible way and be solution focused to any issues arising
- Ability to work under pressure and meet agreed deadlines and timescales, whilst holding others accountable for agreed deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal and social skills which will be used to manage complex situations in achieving successful outcomes for the student
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to ensure that corporate objectives are achieved
- Ability to be able to evidence the impact that you have had on student outcomes through your monitoring, support and intervention
- Ability to manage time effectively, be punctual and adhere to the SEN department and academy codes of professional practice
- Ability to communicate issues and strategies to academy staff in a professional and sensitive manner and to act as the coordinator between external agency, family and academy support
- To be open and willing to be trained to further develop your knowledge and experience of this role
