About Us
HS2 is Britain’s new high-speed, zero carbon railway, and the country’s flagship transport levelling-up project. Using world-class engineering to protect the countryside and drive innovation, it will connect London and Birmingham with more services, faster journeys and fewer delays. And it will do more than ensure better journeys for passengers. HS2 is a vital part of the government’s mission to boost growth and build a better future for Britain.
As Britain’s biggest infrastructure project, HS2 is already benefiting the economy – creating more jobs and spreading opportunities to UK businesses. Developing a diverse range of talent, through a range of personal and professional development opportunities, we’re creating a skills legacy too.
We aim to provide a safe and inclusive working environment. A place where everyone working for us, and with us, can thrive and achieve their full potential. It means we’re positive about making adjustments, providing flexible working, and encouraging our staff networks to flourish.
About The Role
As an Assistant Commercial Manager, you’ll be responsible for supporting the commercial team in administering the NEC3 Option F main contract with the BBVS (Balfour Beatty, Vinci, Systra) JV. Providing assurance to the Head of Commercial on all Delivery commercial activities, your other responsibilities will include developing works information, supporting the development of contract management plans, managing resourcing processes and providing cost verification assurance.
You’ll provide invaluable support by offering contract and commercial advice and contributing to monthly contract, programme performance and other reviews. You’ll also play a key role in enabling a collaborative culture that encourages innovation, maximises knowledge sharing, enhances capability and embeds industry best practice.
About You
Experienced in working with project commercial management teams, you’ve ideally also worked with a publicly funded body or project. As well as bringing contract, commercial and risk management ability, your collaborative and partnering skills will enable you to engage with stakeholders from the Integrated Project Team and across the wider HS2 organisation.
With a good knowledge of contract management, governance, assurance and compliance, you should be capable of supporting the management of effective, value-driven supply chain relationships. We’re also looking for your ability to support the development of policies and processes, using commercial management and reporting systems.
About Our Benefits

We encourage applications from people from all backgrounds and aim to have a workforce that represents our society. We pride ourselves on being an employer of choice. We champion diversity, inclusion and wellbeing, and aim to create a workplace where everyone feels valued and a sense of belonging.
