We have an exciting opportunity for a Biomedical Scientist to join our Biochemistry , Blood Transfusion and Haematology team within our Pathology Department based at The London Clinic in Central London, W1G 7L, with a competitive salary range on offer. The candidate will primarily be based in Biochemistry to support the department for 18 months.

We have approx. 1350 employees across 8 sites, where we cover a broad range of specialisms, including complex medical and surgical procedures and a comprehensive range of cancer and outpatient services.

Job Profile

As a Biomedical Scientist you will carry out / supervise technical and scientific work in the laboratory under the direction of the Chief/Senior Biomedical Scientist or Consultant. You will work alongside the Blood Sciences team members and leaders to cultivate and maintain a culture in which staff are continuously improving the delivery of a high quality, efficient and effective services.

• Job Type: This is a permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week.
• Shifts: Monday to Friday working earlies and lates with 1 in 4 Saturday Shifts

Key Duties

• Undertake routine and specialist laboratory techniques in line with department standard operating procedures.
• Record information on the pathology laboratory information system and ensure it complies with national and local data standards.
• To assess, initiate and monitor appropriate action when a situation may compromise service delivery and to escalate.
• To be aware of the processes for escalation of laboratory issues.
  
  

Skills & Experience

• Post HCPC registration
• Recent laboratory experience in Biochemistry
• Working knowledge of ISO15189 requirements
• BSc. Biomedical Science or equivalent
• Current HCPC registration as a biomedical scientist
