Job Purpose
Positive commercial strategisation and administration for our portfolio of projects is essential to ensure the effective delivery of successful results and management of key risks and opportunities.
This role requires the leadership of a commercial team towards the effective commercial management of a portfolio of projects and frameworks from pre-construction to final account.
You will ensure the effective administration and management of the projects in line with the IMS, maintaining accurate reports and forecasts and will lead the creation and utilisation of a variety of processes which will ensure proactive contract management and administration, accurate turnover, cost and cash forecasting, change and risk management and periodic financial reporting.
You will provide line management and training of direct reports as well as representing the wider Commercial Team both in internal and external capacities.
Job requirements
- Experience Commercial management of a portfolio of £multi-million construction contracts, ideally in the Energy/Power/Renewables/Rail sectors and or infrastructure utilities industry.
- Experience of managing a team of individuals at various stages of their careers, across multiple disciplines.
- Understanding and management of the CVR processes with a keen belief in delivering successful commercial outcomes.
Qualifications
- Formal qualification, ideally at degree level or above, in a relevant commercial/construction subject.
- A member of or working towards an appropriate professional qualification/membership is also expected (RICS/CICES/CIOB).
Technical skills
- Can formulate, present and negotiate high-value contract variations and claims from a variety of contract forms through to client agreement.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to negotiate and influence decisions.
- Can read, interpret and measure construction drawings.
- Understanding of contract law.
- Timely administration of sub-contractor and supplier accounts in line with contractual timescales
- Line management experience is preferable as well as experience of preparation and presentation of periodic reporting
- Accurate administration and reporting of all commercial costs, payment information and associated data.
- Raising of sub-contractor and vendor purchase orders upon request. Contract profit margin to be delivered at or above business targeted margin.
