The Role
This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong commercial mindset and experience in professional services business development—ideally within accountancy. You’ll play a key role in driving growth by generating new leads, opening doors to prospective clients, and working closely with partners to convert opportunities into new business.
Rather than waiting for opportunities to come in, you’ll be out in the market actively identifying and creating them. You’ll understand the challenges business owners face, know how to position our accounting and advisory services effectively, and bring a proactive, hands-on approach to building a strong pipeline.
You’ll play a key role in driving growth across our specialist sectors – from creatives, authors, and influencers to sports professionals, restaurateurs, property investors, tech start-ups and not-for-profits. You’ll use your commercial acumen and relationship-building skills to spot opportunities, deepen client engagement, and promote our sector-specific accountancy and advisory services. Key Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities for the firm’s core accounting, tax, audit, and advisory services
- Research and target potential clients in key sectors, building a healthy pipeline of high-quality leads
- Work closely with partners to open conversations with prospects, create engagement strategies, and hand over warm opportunities for conversion
- Manage the business development cycle from lead generation through to proposal, pitch coordination, and follow-up
- Support cross-selling across service lines by understanding client needs and introducing relevant specialists
- Maintain the business development pipeline and regularly report on activity, progress, and outcomes
- Monitor market movements, competitor activity, and regulatory changes to spot opportunities for timely outreach
This role suits someone confident and credible with accounting professionals, who knows how to develop relationships and isn't afraid to cold call, follow up, and create traction. You’ll be a driver of growth, not just a supporter of it.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in business development or client relationship roles – ideally within a professional services or accountancy firm
- A confident communicator who enjoys working with senior stakeholders
- Commercially aware, with the ability to spot opportunities and take initiative
- Strong writing and project management skills – comfortable managing multiple priorities
