Calastone

Date: 10 hours ago
City: London
Contract type: Full time
Work schedule: Full day
Calastone
Role Purpose

As a key member of the Product team, you will contribute to the design and delivery of both new and existing products in the Mutual Funds space. This includes conducting market analysis, soliciting client feedback, defining and communicating the product roadmap and prioritising work for the development team in conjunction with technology and the broader product team.

Assessing appetite for new features at an early stage, evaluating business viability at all stages and allowing these to be challenged and enriched in the product governance process, you will focus on delivering value-add features to your robust product set.

Quality and compliance are critical for the product set and you, with support from the whole Operations team, and specifically the Quality Assurance team, will ensure that the highest standards are maintained for the products under your ownership – especially when introducing new features.

Taking part in the day-to-day development of the new features for your products, you will coordinate with the Engineering team to ensure they understand “why”, you are aiming to deliver “what” you are delivering and “when” you are delivering it – they will be in charge of “how” it is delivered - and you will build the mutual trust between these key teams.

The successful candidate will bring knowledge and experience from asset management, or an asset servicing firm likely having worked in an operational or product role. The role involves assessing and evaluating product/market fit and commercial viability at all stages and allowing these to be challenged and enriched in the Product governance process with collaboration across Sales, Operations, Marking, Technology and directly with Clients. You will also be in charge from a delivery perspective in direct engagement with the technology and design teams, collaborating on the Product Backlog. This may also include performing the Product Owner role, within Calastone’s agile delivery process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out product discovery work, playing a key role in co-creation sessions with our clients and elicit feedback on our products and broader roadmap.
  • Plan and prioritise the product feature backlog, working closely with your Product Director and other Product personnel
  • Be able to break initiatives down into Epic level tasks that can be collated, tracked and estimated in the system for building and maintenance of the product roadmap.
  • Work closely with the Lead engineers to translate and articulate product requirements into acceptable increments to be delivered by technology
  • Work with your Product Director on the commercial viability of your product domain, ensuring product level budgets and sales targets are set and achieved in line with corporate goals
  • Work with the Product Director to provide Performance Metrics: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure project progress and success.
  • Work with the broader Product Management team to ensure the end-to-end vision is clear, particularly where their areas of overlap with other Calastone products
  • Propose and implement changes to existing processes to streamline and accelerate delivery while at the same time maximizing revenue
  • Aid the creation of the marketing content and Go-To-Market plan by working closely with the Commercial and Marketing teams regarding the value proposition and key capabilities of your products
  • Assist Sales in Client meetings; investigating client needs and establishing views on new product capabilities to meet them

Required Knowledge & Experience

  • Commercial results-oriented leadership with a keen eye for the revenues and costs of Products – looking for ways to optimise your Products for maximum return
  • Experience in Asset Management and the broader funds ecosystem either through Fund Operations or Product roles as an asset manager or asset servicer such as a transfer agent
  • Have a track record of product delivery, showing how products have moved from ideation to launch and growth under your ownership
  • Be able to think in a disruptive way to reinvent your domain product set from how the industry works today whilst taking into account adoption of new products
  • Direct experience of Agile development processes and able to evangelize its adoption
  • Stakeholder management experience with examples of where your influence has impacted the business
  • Able to follow and suggest improvements to a disciplined Product development process
  • Experience of client/customer-led Product development, with examples of executions based on client/customer needs, insights and testing
  • Strong written communication and documentation skills including requirements capture and documentation of workflows
