Description

The Role

As the first Full Stack Growth Engineer at Ffern, you will play a pivotal role in driving user acquisition, engagement, and conversion through innovative engineering solutions at one of the fastest growing startups in the UK. Projects at Ffern are unique - you’ll be working with in-house film producers and designers, as well as a highly technical growth team (everyone in Growth knows SQL and Python). You will be embedded within our growth team, but work in close collaboration with the broader engineering team and a dotted reporting line to the CTO, to ensure alignment on technical strategy and best practices.

Key Responsivities

  • Design, develop, and deploy full-stack applications and features focused on optimizing user growth and conversion.
  • Utilize your strong proficiency in a programming language (ideally TypeScript) and the React framework to build engaging and effective user experiences.
  • Leverage your solid understanding of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, to extract, analyze, and interpret data.
  • Write complex SQL queries to answer critical product and marketing questions, informing growth strategies and measuring experiment success.
  • Bring a growth mindset and an experimental approach to engineering, actively proposing and implementing A/B tests and other optimization strategies.
  • Maintain a keen eye for user experience (UX) and conversion rate optimization (CRO), ensuring a seamless and effective user journey.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product, marketing, and design, to identify and prioritize growth opportunities.
  • Contribute to a service-oriented architecture, building scalable and maintainable solutions.

Requirements

  • You possess a strong proficiency in a programming language, ideally TypeScript.
  • Significant experience building full-stack applications using React.
  • Solid understanding of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, and are confident in writing complex SQL queries.
  • Strong understanding of UX principles and their impact on conversion.
  • Academic degree from a top-tier university.
  • You reason logically. You get a kick out of architecting systems and building processes.
  • Passionate about working in the start-up world for a sustainable and mission-driven brand.

Bonus Points

  • Familiarity with marketing tools and concepts, such as Meta APIs, event tracking, attribution models, and performance reporting, and understanding how they inform growth strategy.
  • Experience with Next.js.

Benefits

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary: Experience dependent.
  • Healthcare: Private healthcare offered as standard.
  • Holidays: 25 days holiday + bank holidays, growing by 1 day per year spent with us.
  • Remote work: All full-time London studio roles are three days a week in the studio, with two days flexible (team lunch at a top Hackney eatery if you come in on the flexible days).
  • Ffern membership: All of our team are members of the Ffern ledger.
  • Team dynamic: Fun, laid-back and sociable team with regular team meals, breakfasts, drinks and outings.
  • Beautiful work environment: We work from a pair of sunlit studio spaces off Columbia road with state-of-the-art kit, MacBooks and breakout spaces.

N.B. Ffern is growing fast, with a plethora of exciting projects on the horizon. This means our roles are somewhat flexible. If you don’t tick every box, but feel passionate about what you could bring to the table, please do apply.
