Technical Lead

Contract: 6 months with likelihood of extension

Location: London (50% office attendance required)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead to join a leading investment banking client on a 6-month contract. This role will focus on leading the delivery of high-performance, scalable systems within a complex financial environment.

The successful candidate will bring a strong hands-on engineering background alongside proven leadership experience, particularly with distributed or remote teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of enterprise-grade applications
• Provide technical leadership across the full software development lifecycle
• Drive best practices in system architecture, performance, and scalability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, architecture, and operations
• Manage and mentor distributed/remote engineering teams
• Ensure high-quality code standards, reviews, and continuous improvement
• Work closely with stakeholders within an investment banking environment

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with:
• Java
• Kafka
• Oracle
• Angular
• Proven experience in a Technical Lead or similar leadership role
• Experience managing remote or distributed teams
• Strong understanding of system architecture and integration patterns
• Experience working within investment banking or financial services

Desirable Experience

• Experience with Prime services/systems (nice to have)
