Assistant Accountant | South West London | £32,000 - £40,000 | Full time or 4 days

Fletcher George is delighted to be working with a highly successful and modern professional services organisation to recruit an Assistant Accountant. Conveniently located in South West London and close to excellent public transport links, this opportunity will suit a hard-working, well-presented and professional individual looking to be part of a real team environment. You must live within a reasonable commute to be office based for 3 days.

Working closely with an experienced Finance Manager, you will gain exposure to a broad range of accounting responsibilities across two companies within the Group. This is a varied and visible role where you will become an important member of the finance team, supporting the smooth running of the finance function whilst developing your accounting knowledge and engaging in some adhoc projects.

The Role

• Managing the sales ledger function and ensuring client invoices are raised accurately and in a timely manner

• Monitoring Work in Progress (WIP) and supporting the billing process to ensure clients are invoiced promptly

• Allocating receipts and maintaining accurate client account records

• Building professional relationships with clients and assisting with payment queries and collections

• Supporting credit control activities whilst maintaining exceptional levels of client service

• Performing bank reconciliations and investigating discrepancies where required

• Assisting with month-end accounting processes across two companies within the Group

• Maintaining accurate financial records with a strong focus on detail and accuracy

• Assisting the Finance Manager with a variety of accounting, reporting and finance-related projects

The Person

• Previous experience gained within an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Assistant or Finance Assistant position

• Hard-working, well-presented and professional in your approach

• Strong attention to detail and a genuine interest in accounting and finance

• Comfortable communicating with clients and colleagues in a confident and professional manner

• Experience of sales ledger, invoicing, credit control and reconciliations

• Exposure to credit control would be advantageous, however excellent communication and relationship-building skills are considered more important

• Good Excel and systems skills

• Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities effectively

• Looking to build a long-term career within accounting and finance
