Lead the Delivery of a Landmark Healthcare Programme

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Design Manager / Senior Project Manager to join a leading multidisciplinary consultancy and play a key role in the successful delivery of a major healthcare development in London.

This position is suited to a highly capable project professional with extensive experience operating within NEC3 or NEC4 contractual environments. You will take ownership of design management, programme coordination, commercial oversight and contractual compliance across a large-scale, technically complex project.

Working alongside senior leadership teams, consultants and key stakeholders, you will be instrumental in driving project performance, managing risk, ensuring contractual obligations are met and maintaining programme certainty from inception through to completion.

The Opportunity

This is a strategic leadership role offering the chance to work on one of the UK's most significant healthcare developments. The successful candidate will provide direction across multidisciplinary teams while acting as a key interface between design teams, client representatives and project stakeholders.

A thorough understanding of NEC contracts is essential, with the ability to confidently manage change control processes, Early Warnings, Compensation Events and contractual notifications throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate design delivery activities across multiple project workstreams.
  • Ensure design outputs remain aligned with programme requirements, project objectives and contractual obligations.
  • Manage project financial performance, including commercial reporting, forecasting and cost monitoring.
  • Oversee project risk and issue management processes, ensuring mitigation strategies are implemented effectively.
  • Administer and monitor Requests for Information (RFIs), ensuring timely responses and resolution of design queries.
  • Track design progress against programme milestones and coordinate activities relating to planning, compliance, health and safety, sustainability and assurance requirements.
  • Act as a key point of contact for project stakeholders, facilitating the resolution of design, programme and contractual challenges.
  • Manage scope changes and oversee all NEC contractual processes relating to notifications, change management and commercial assessment.
  • Review and assess project changes, raising Early Warnings and Compensation Events where appropriate while evaluating programme and commercial impacts.
  • Monitor consultant and supply chain performance, ensuring delivery standards and contractual commitments are achieved.
  • Work closely with project leadership teams to identify resource requirements and maintain programme performance.
  • Produce project reports and performance updates for senior management and key stakeholders.
  • Mentor and support junior members of the project and design management team, promoting best practice and professional development.

About You

  • Proven experience within construction, infrastructure, engineering or large-scale building projects.
  • Minimum of five years' practical NEC3 and/or NEC4 contract management experience.
  • Strong understanding of contract administration, change management and commercial governance processes.
  • NEC accreditation or formal NEC training would be highly advantageous.
  • Experience using project planning software such as Asta Powerproject, Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project would be beneficial.

What's on Offer

  • Opportunity to lead the delivery of a flagship healthcare project.
  • Exposure to complex, high-value programmes within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.
  • Structured professional development, mentoring and ongoing training opportunities.
  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
  • Private healthcare, life assurance and wellbeing support.
  • Flexible benefits and enhanced family-friendly policies.
  • A collaborative and inclusive culture focused on career progression and long-term development.
  • Access to social, charitable and wellbeing initiatives throughout the year.

This role would suit an experienced Senior Design Manager, Senior Project Manager, Project Controls Manager or NEC Contract Specialist seeking a challenging and rewarding position on a major healthcare programme where they can make a significant impact.
