Risk and Compliance lawyer - #2088556

A prestigious international law firm is seeking a Risk Lawyer to join their London-based Risk Management team. This role offers you the opportunity to become a trusted adviser across the firm, working closely with senior leadership and colleagues in multiple jurisdictions, including Dubai and Ireland. You will play a pivotal part in shaping the firm's approach to governance, compliance, and risk mitigation, ensuring that the organisation remains at the forefront of regulatory standards.

Role responsibilities:

• Advise partners, fee earners, and business services teams on a wide range of professional conduct, regulatory, and risk management matters across the firm's international offices.
• Support the Head of Risk and Director of Risk (COLP) in meeting regulatory requirements for both UK-based and overseas operations.
• Review engagement terms, policies, and risk frameworks regularly to ensure they remain compliant with evolving legal standards.
• Deliver comprehensive training sessions and guidance to lawyers and business teams on all aspects of risk-related issues.
• Collaborate with colleagues in Dubai and Ireland to address jurisdiction-specific regulatory challenges and implement best practices.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of governance processes by identifying areas for enhancement and recommending practical solutions.
• Provide pragmatic advice under pressure while balancing commercial objectives with regulatory obligations.
• Engage constructively with senior stakeholders to influence decision-making in relation to risk management strategies.

Role requirements:

• Qualified lawyer with proven experience in risk management or compliance within an international or City law firm environment.
• Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks affecting legal practitioners across multiple jurisdictions such as the UK, Dubai, Ireland, Europe, Latin America, or the Middle East.
• Exceptional communication skills enabling you to engage effectively with senior stakeholders while providing clear guidance on complex issues.
• Commercially minded approach allowing you to deliver solution-focused advice that balances business objectives with regulatory requirements.
• Ability to review policies critically and recommend improvements that enhance compliance without compromising operational efficiency.
