Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Project Engineer to join their growing Professional Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically skilled engineer who enjoys taking ownership of projects, working directly with clients, and delivering modern IT solutions across cloud, infrastructure, networking, and security environments.

This is a hands-on role where you will manage projects from initial technical discovery and solution design through to implementation, documentation, and successful handover into support. You'll be trusted to manage your own workload, coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, and build strong relationships with clients while delivering exceptional technical outcomes.

The Role

As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of a wide range of IT projects, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and to a high technical standard. You'll work closely with clients, internal stakeholders, suppliers, and support teams throughout the entire project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing multiple client projects simultaneously from inception to completion.
  • Supporting pre-sales activities, technical discovery workshops, and requirements gathering.
  • Designing, implementing, and documenting infrastructure, cloud, networking, and security solutions.
  • Managing project timelines, budgets, risks, and deliverables.
  • Producing clear technical documentation and handover materials.
  • Providing project updates and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Identifying and escalating risks, blockers, and out-of-scope requests where appropriate.
  • Participating in an out-of-hours on-call rota when required.
Technical Responsibilities

You will be involved in delivering a broad range of technologies and solutions, including:

Microsoft Cloud & Modern Workplace
  • Microsoft 365 design, deployment, and administration.
  • Microsoft Azure services and cloud infrastructure projects.
  • Microsoft Intune deployment and device management.
  • SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and Exchange Online.
  • Identity and access management using Entra ID.
  • Cloud migration and modern workplace transformation projects.
Infrastructure & Server Technologies
  • Windows Server deployments, upgrades, and migrations.
  • Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file and print services.
  • Hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
  • Infrastructure consolidation and modernisation projects.
Networking & Security
  • Network design, deployment, and documentation.
  • SonicWall firewall configuration and management.
  • VPNs, routing, NAT, firewall policies, and security controls.
  • UniFi switching and wireless deployments.
  • VLANs, network segmentation, DNS, DHCP, and Wi-Fi design.
  • Security-focused infrastructure implementation and troubleshooting.
What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will be an organised, client-focused professional with proven experience delivering technical projects across cloud and infrastructure environments.

Essential requirements:

  • Proven experience delivering IT infrastructure, Microsoft 365, cloud, networking, and security projects.
  • Strong project ownership and self-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong documentation and technical reporting capabilities.
  • Commercial awareness around project scope, budgets, timelines, and risk.
  • Confidence working directly with clients both remotely and on-site.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer locations.
  • Willingness to participate in an out-of-hours support rota when required.
Personal Qualities

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical capability with a proactive and professional approach:

  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Calm and professional under pressure.
  • Positive, solutions-focused mindset.
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to different audiences.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, documentation, and best practice.
  • Interest in emerging technologies, automation, and AI-enabled ways of working.
Why Apply?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking organisation where you'll play a key role in delivering business-critical technology projects. You'll work with modern cloud platforms, infrastructure technologies, networking solutions, and security tools while having the autonomy to take ownership of your work and make a real impact for clients.

If you're a driven Project Engineer looking for your next challenge and want to work on varied, technically engaging projects within a supportive and collaborative environment, we'd love to hear from you.
