Data Engineer - London - Investment Management - Python SQL AI - Strike IT - #2092236

We are supporting a leading Investment Management organisation who are looking for a Data Engineer, with strong Python and SQL engineering skills, combined with experience working across investment data, integrations, and operational automation within Asset/Investment Management or Financial Services.

You will work closely with Investment Operations, Investment Data, and central Data Engineering teams to design, build, and support scalable data integrations across investment platforms, reporting environments, and operational systems.

A key part of the role will involve identifying manual operational processes and replacing them with robust automated solutions using modern engineering approaches, APIs, and AI-enabled tooling where appropriate.

Responsibilities

1. Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and integrations across investment systems and reporting platforms
2. Build scalable solutions for the ingestion, transformation, and distribution of investment data
3. Work closely with operational and investment stakeholders to improve data quality, controls, and governance
4. Automate manual operational workflows across areas such as:
5. Capital calls
6. Distributions
7. Cash management
8. Trade settlement
9. Investment reporting
10. Develop API-driven integrations between internal and external platforms
11. Partner with central Data Engineering and Architecture teams on best practices and platform standards
12. Support the modernisation of investment data processes using automation and AI-enabled approaches
13. Contribute to data governance, monitoring, lineage, and operational resilience initiatives

Experience

1. Strong experience as a Data Engineer, Integration Engineer, or similar role within Asset/Investment Management or Financial Services
2. Strong Python and SQL development experience
3. Experience building and supporting enterprise data pipelines and integrations
4. Understanding of investment and portfolio data concepts, including:
5. NAVs
6. IRRs
7. Portfolio structures
8. Holdings
9. Transactions
10. Investment performance data
11. Experience working with APIs and automated data workflows
12. Experience with AI-enabled engineering, automation, or operational tooling

Desirable:

1. Addepar platform or Addepar API experience
2. Experience with Azure-based data platforms and tooling
3. Bloomberg data integration experience
4. PowerShell Scripting
5. Microsoft Graph API experience
6. Exposure to private markets, alternatives, or multi-asset investment environments
