About our client
Our client is a highly regarded venture capital investor seeking to appoint a Portfolio Associate to support the investment, senior management, and investment operations teams in London. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing analysis and insight at both portfolio company and fund level, supporting investment decision-making and portfolio monitoring across the platform. Key responsibilities will include portfolio valuations, performance analysis, portfolio company financial analysis and forecasting, investor and management reporting, and transaction support throughout the investment lifecycle. The role will also work closely with the investment team on deal-related activities and portfolio monitoring initiatives. In addition, the Portfolio Associate will partner with the broader investment operations function to drive best practice across portfolio management, reporting infrastructure, and operational processes, helping to ensure a scalable and efficient platform as the business continues to grow. What the job involves
- Prepare and maintain asset valuations, fund-level financial models, and portfolio forecasts, providing insightful analysis to support investment and portfolio management decisions
- Produce regular portfolio reporting for internal stakeholders, ensuring the timely delivery of accurate and meaningful performance information
- Analyse portfolio company financial statements, operating performance, and capital structures to support ongoing portfolio monitoring and value creation initiatives
- Support the transaction lifecycle, including due diligence, onboarding of new investments, and the development of portfolio workflows for newly acquired assets
- Contribute to broader investment operations initiatives, helping to enhance the efficiency and scalability of the investment platform
- Partner with senior management on the continuous improvement of processes, controls, and systems across the investment and portfolio management functions
- Work closely with the data team to optimise data management workflows, improve data quality, and develop dashboards and reporting tools to enhance decision-making
- Support wider fund operations activities, including audit processes, reporting cycles, and other fund administration requirements
- Build and maintain strong working relationships across the investment team, senior management, and the broader investment operations function, acting as a key point of coordination between stakeholders
- Chartered Accountant (or equivalent professional qualification)
- Strong understanding of valuation methodologies with demonstrable financial modelling skills
- Prior experience within private equity or venture capital is highly desirable
- Exceptional attention to detail and high standards of accuracy
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, dynamic, and evolving environment
- Self-motivated, proactive, and driven, with a strong sense of ownership and work ethic
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively across a wide range of stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
