Your new job working as a Commercial Director / Trading Director, will be working for an innovative and growing Independent Global Lloyd's Brokers, who have been established for over 100 years. With offices based in both the UK and worldwide, your new Brokers pride themselves on understanding the importance of being client-focused and are growing in all areas, and have recently been named an employer of choice. Due to substantial growth within their specialist and niche sector, a permanent position working as a Commercial Director / Trading Director has arisen.
Your new role
As Commercial Director / Trading Director, you will take on a pivotal position within the business, with responsibility for driving commercial performance, shaping sales strategy and overseeing the success of multiple teams. The role will require regular travel to other offices and client premises, with occasional international travel also expected. Working closely with the Managing Director, you will be responsible for Sales/ New business development, managing teams, as well as Operational support. It is important in this role that you work with the MD to manage your own professional development and performance appraisal alongside training staff and meeting their training needs.
This new job will involve preparing and delivering the annual sales plan, ensuring the achievement of individual, team and wider business targets. You will manage, implement and continuously review the sales strategy, taking ownership of overall sales performance while leading and developing a high-performing sales team.A key aspect of the role will involve personally generating income and profit, alongside winning, retaining and developing both new and existing client relationships. Working closely with clients to understand their evolving needs, advising on appropriate insurers and coverage solutions while maintaining a strong, consultative approach. In addition, you will be responsible for driving new business activity through marketing initiatives, referrals and client presentations, while maintaining strong relationships with insurer partners. You will also be responsible for working within all budgets set, income, expenditure and profit. The role will also involve resolving client issues where necessary, ensuring a high standard of service is maintained at all times and escalating matters appropriately when required.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed in this role, you will have experience either as a Commercial Director or Trading director or have worked in a similar role at senior level. You will have proven experience in generating new business as well as managing and developing teams and have experience in internal stakeholder management. This role will involve client visits as well as travel to other offices and/or possible overseas travel on occasions. Strong commercial acumen, stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence at senior level are essential. This role requires someone who can balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, bringing energy and leadership to multiple teams and building long-term client and insurer relationships. It is beneficial for this role if you are degree educated.
