Data Engineer

Join a high-impact data transformation programme where your expertise will help shape the success of complex migration and reconciliation initiatives. This role offers the chance to work within a cloud-first environment, improving data quality, performance, and scalability while supporting critical business outcomes.


Role Overview:

  • Location: Remote (Must be UK-based) - no third parties
  • Active SC Clearance is essential
  • Package: £550 per day (Outside IR35)
  • Industry: Data & Cloud Transformation
  • Duration: 3-month contract with possibility to extend


What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Design, build, and enhance data migration and transformation solutions within AWS.
  • Review existing data engineering solutions and identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Optimise data processing workflows to increase efficiency across migration and reconciliation activities.
  • Develop robust logging, monitoring, and error-handling capabilities within Python-based applications.
  • Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using AWS data services.
  • Validate migrated data and perform reconciliation activities to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Investigate data issues, troubleshoot processing failures, and resolve quality concerns.
  • Work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver effective solutions.
  • Produce clear technical documentation and share knowledge across the wider team.
  • Support testing, deployment, and post-migration activities.


Main Skills Needed:

  • Strong commercial Python development experience, including performance optimisation, code reviews, and best practice implementation.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services, including Amazon RDS, AWS Glue, and related data technologies.
  • Proven track record delivering data migration and transformation projects.
  • Strong understanding of data integration, processing, and ETL/ELT methodologies.
  • Experience improving application performance and processing efficiency.
  • Data validation, reconciliation, and data quality management experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work autonomously within a remote-first team.
  • Active SC Clearance is essential.
