Working Arrangement
This is a permanent, full-time office-based position in London.
About the RoleAs a Practice Team Assistant, you will provide comprehensive administrative support to Partners, lawyers and the wider PA team. The Practice Team Assistant will ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently and to the highest professional standards while managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
You will assist with document production, printing, scanning, photocopying, court and counsel bundles, electronic filing and general administrative tasks. The Practice Team Assistant will also support billing administration, expense processing, time entry, client matter maintenance, new business intake, conflict checks and anti-money laundering documentation.
The Practice Team Assistant will help coordinate meetings, conferences, client events, travel arrangements and diary logistics while maintaining accurate client records and supporting the team's financial administration. You will also contribute to archiving processes, general office support and other administrative projects as required.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-quality administrative support to Partners, lawyers and the PA team.
- Prepare, print, scan and organise legal documentation, court bundles and working papers.
- Maintain electronic and hard copy filing systems.
- Assist with billing administration, pre-bills, eBilling and financial processes.
- Process expense claims, cheque requisitions and banking administration.
- Support new client and matter opening procedures, including conflict and AML checks.
- Coordinate meetings, conference rooms, client events and travel bookings.
- Update client databases and maintain accurate records.
- Prepare files for archiving and retrieval.
- Respond professionally to telephone enquiries and general office requests.
- Assist with document production requiring a quick turnaround.
- Work collaboratively across legal and business services teams while maintaining exceptional client service.
The ideal Practice Team Assistant will be enthusiastic, organised and eager to build a successful career within a leading law firm. You will enjoy working in a busy environment, demonstrate excellent attention to detail and consistently deliver outstanding administrative support.
You will have:
- 5 GCSEs (A*–C or equivalent), including English and Maths.
- A typing speed of at least 45 words per minute with 98% accuracy.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- The ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent proofreading and attention to detail.
- A proactive and collaborative approach.
- Previous experience within a law firm or professional services environment would be advantageous.
- CILEX qualification is desirable but not essential.
