Our client, a major UK retail bank, provides every day banking services to over 17 million retail customers. The banks expertise and services span across Business Services, Corporate banking, Wealth Management, Group Functions, Retail and Investment Banking.
On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for a Senior Programme Director for an initial 6-month contract based in London. It will be a hybrid model.
Purpose of the role:
To support the orchestration and delivery of a large-scale wealth management integration programme, ensuring alignment across workstreams, driving value realisation, and enabling successful execution of strategic revenue synergy objectives across business divisions.
What you'll do:
- Maintain alignment across multiple workstreams covering propositions, client journeys, and operating models to ensure consistent programme delivery.
- Track and manage the value creation roadmap, ensuring priorities remain aligned to agreed strategic outcomes.
- Identify, escalate, and help resolve cross-workstream dependencies, risks, and prioritisation challenges.
- Prepare and support senior and executive level reporting, ensuring clear, structured updates and governance-ready materials.
- Drive delivery discipline across workstreams by ensuring clear ownership, actions, timelines, and accountability.
- Support the design and implementation of value tracking and reporting processes with Finance, transitioning them into BAU ownership. risk challenge where appropriate.
The skills you'll need:
- Experience leading complex, cross-functional programmes, including engaging senior workstream leads, orchestrating activity across multiple projects and maintaining delivery pace across interdependent teams.
- Comfortable working at both strategic and operational levels, including engaging deeply with contents and developing materials themselves.
- Strong content orientation and structured problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business objectives into practical delivery priorities.
- Ability to act as a sparring partner to senior leaders, helping frame issues, options and decision points clearly, while connecting insights and delivery plans across workstreams.
- Experience identifying, framing and escalating cross-functional dependencies, prioritisation questions and delivery risks, ensuring they are addressed in the right governance forums.
- Senior-level verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare executive materials and briefings with clear narratives, fact-based analysis and decision-oriented recommendations.
- Working knowledge of banking and/or wealth management.
- Management consulting experience desirable but not essential.
