Multi-Skilled Handyman / Maintenance Operative

We are looking for a dependable and hands-on Multi-Skilled Handyman / Maintenance Operative to support the upkeep, repair and general maintenance of a varied property portfolio.

This role would suit someone practical, organised and confident working across a broad range of day-to-day maintenance tasks. You will be expected to manage jobs independently, respond to issues efficiently, and ensure all work is completed safely, professionally and to a high standard.

Key Duties

  • Carry out general building repairs, maintenance and handyman tasks
  • Undertake basic decorating, painting, touch-ups and making-good works
  • Complete minor electrical or plumbing tasks where suitably experienced and competent
  • Support routine checks across buildings and communal spaces
  • Assist with planned maintenance, inspections and preventative works
  • Identify faults, defects or potential risks and escalate where required
  • Liaise appropriately with occupiers, contractors, suppliers and internal teams
  • Keep accurate records of completed work, including notes, updates and photographs
  • Ensure work areas are left clean, safe and presentable
  • Maintain a professional and helpful approach while working on site

About You

We are looking for someone with previous experience in a maintenance, facilities, property repairs or multi-trade role. You should be confident dealing with practical repair work, able to prioritise your workload, and comfortable working independently across different locations.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in general maintenance, facilities, property repairs or a similar hands-on role
  • Good practical ability across a range of basic trades
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
  • Reliable, punctual and well organised
  • Able to work independently and use initiative
  • Good communication skills and a professional manner
  • Comfortable using basic systems or a mobile device to update jobs and upload photographs
  • A proactive approach to spotting and resolving maintenance issues

Desirable Experience

  • Relevant trade, maintenance, construction or engineering qualification
  • Basic health and safety awareness
  • Experience working in residential, commercial or mixed-use property settings
  • Multi-trade experience across repairs, decorating, basic plumbing, basic electrics or general building works
  • Full UK driving licence

What We Are Looking For

The right attitude is just as important as technical ability. We are looking for someone who takes ownership, communicates clearly, turns up when expected, and consistently delivers work to a good standard.

You will play an important role in keeping buildings safe, well maintained and presentable. Success in this role will be measured by the quality and timeliness of completed works, accurate reporting, effective communication with stakeholders, and the ability to identify and resolve maintenance issues before they escalate.

Ongoing support and relevant training will be provided to help you develop within the role.
