We are looking for an organised, customer-focused Grants Officer to join our Adult Adaptations team. This is an exciting opportunity to support disabled and vulnerable adults to remain safe, independent, and comfortable in their own homes.

As a Grants Officer, you will manage Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs) and other housing adaptation grants, guiding applicants through the process from initial enquiry to grant approval and completion. You will work closely with Occupational Therapists, surveyors, contractors, and other professionals to ensure adaptations are delivered efficiently and in line with legislation and local policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process applications for Disabled Facilities Grants and other adaptation grants.
  • Assess grant eligibility in accordance with legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Liaise with applicants, their families, Occupational Therapists, surveyors, contractors, and partner agencies throughout the adaptations process.
  • Calculate grant entitlement and prepare approvals in line with financial and legal requirements.
  • Monitor grant expenditure and maintain accurate financial and case records.
  • Ensure all documentation is complete and compliant before grants are approved and paid.
  • Provide advice and guidance to residents on the grants process and available funding options.
  • Support the timely delivery of adaptations to help residents remain independent and reduce hospital admissions or the need for residential care.
  • Maintain excellent customer service while managing a varied caseload.
About You

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Experience of administering grants, financial assistance, or casework in a housing, local government, or social care environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases and competing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Experience of working with confidential information and maintaining accurate records.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and case management systems.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with a range of professionals and partner organisations.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of Disabled Facilities Grants legislation and the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996.
  • Experience of working within housing adaptations, adult social care, housing services, or local government.
  • Understanding of the role of Occupational Therapists and the adaptations process.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, equality legislation, and person-centred service delivery.
