The role emphasises engaging students in a supportive academic community, ensuring they understand the value of their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set, promote, and maintain educational and professional standards in teaching and curriculum development.
  • Undertake general course responsibilities including lesson planning, teaching, assessment, and administration.
  • Provide academic and pastoral support to students, monitoring their progress and maintaining records.
  • Maintain strong links with related industries and professional bodies, staying updated on developments in the subject area.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and cross-disciplinary teaching strategies.
  • Engage in research and scholarly activity or professional practice in relevant disciplines.
  • Attend and contribute to course-related meetings and examination boards as required.
  • Support projects and promote collaboration across specialist areas.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant BA and postgraduate qualification or equivalent professional experience.
  • PhD or higher-level research degree.
  • Teaching qualification (PG Cert or equivalent); completion of PGCERT in education required if not already held.
  • Fellowship (or higher) of the Higher Education Academy.

Experience Requirements:

  • Experience of teaching and assessment in a Higher Education environment.
  • Experience in curriculum design and development, including creating course materials that support student success.
  • Experience in leading and managing educational programs.
  • Evidence of research and professional practice relevant to the discipline.
  • Strong industry connections to facilitate partnerships or collaborations.
