ICAEW

We're looking for a Financial Services Director to join our team in London on a permanent basis. This role offers a salary of £93,500 - £105,000 per annum depending on experience and a hybrid working pattern.

Lead ICAEW's strategic engagement with the financial services sector, shaping the organisation's position, priorities and influence across banking, insurance, investment management and related markets; using market insight and stakeholder intelligence to inform strategic planning, content priorities and external engagement activity.

Own and deliver a forward-looking financial services strategy that enhances ICAEW's relevance, profile and value to members, firms, regulators and wider stakeholders. Ensuring ICAEW's financial services proposition remains relevant, insight-led and responsive to member, market and regulatory needs.

What you will be doing;

  • Build and maintain senior relationships with regulators, government bodies, market participants, professional firms and member communities to raise ICAEW's profile, command respect and drive innovative, thought-provoking content on the industry.
  • Direct thought leadership, policy positions and technical guidance on issues affecting financial services, and lead ICAEW's response to major regulatory, legislative and market developments - ensuring timely, authoritative, evidence-based contributions to consultations, inquiries and public debate.
  • Identify emerging risks, trends and opportunities affecting the sector, advising internal leadership and shaping ICAEW's strategic response.
  • Represent ICAEW externally as a credible, influential voice on financial services through speaking engagements, stakeholder forums, media activity and senior industry networks.
  • Partner with membership, policy, communications, international and other business areas for a joined-up sector approach, while leading direct reports and wider contributors with clear direction and high-performance ways of working.
  • Manage budgets, resources and commissioned activity for quality delivery and value for money, and contribute as a senior leader to ICAEW's wider strategic objectives and Direction 2030. Specific duties will vary with business needs.

What you will need;

  • A high standard of education, with a degree or relevant professional qualification essential. Qualified as a Chartered Accountant with a number of years post qualified experience desirable.
  • Recent experience in the financial services industry, derived from a major financial services institution, professional services firm or relevant regulatory body.
  • High level understanding of issues and developments affecting the financial services industry as a whole and specific sectors such as banking, insurance and investment management.
  • Strong project management skills, with the proven ability to devise, develop, commission, manage and deliver high quality content, thought leadership, policy work and consultation responses.
  • Demonstrable written, presentational and public speaking communication skills, including an ability to make complex, technical issues accessible and understood to a range of audiences.
  • Excellent inter-personal collaborative and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work with leaders within the financial services industry
