SMR Corporate Secretary

London | Hybrid (2–3 days per week)

6-Month Contract | £350–410 per day (Umbrella)

We are working with a leading international investment bank seeking an Assistant Vice President to join its Corporate Governance function, supporting the delivery and ongoing maintenance of the Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SMCR) framework across the organisation.

This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience managing SMCR processes within an FCA-regulated financial institution, who is looking to join a collaborative governance team in a highly regulated banking environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day administration of the Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SMCR) framework.
• Prepare and maintain Statements of Responsibilities (SoRs) and Management Responsibilities Maps (MRMs).
• Support the management of Senior Management Functions (SMFs) and the Certification Regime, including joiners, movers and leavers.
• Coordinate Fit & Proper assessments and maintain associated governance records.
• Prepare and submit regulatory notifications and filings to the FCA/PRA.
• Maintain SMCR governance documentation, including handover documents and supporting records.
• Support the preparation of governance and committee papers where required.
• Provide guidance to stakeholders on SMCR requirements and regulatory obligations.
• Maintain policies, procedures and governance documentation in line with regulatory expectations.

About You

You'll have experience working within an FCA-regulated bank or financial institution and will have practical, hands-on knowledge of the SMCR framework.

You will ideally have experience with:

• Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SMCR)
• Statements of Responsibilities (SoRs)
• Management Responsibilities Maps (MRMs)
• Senior Management Functions (SMFs)
• Certification Regime administration
• Fit & Proper assessments
• FCA/PRA regulatory submissions
• Governance documentation and regulatory record keeping
• Strong stakeholder management across Compliance, Legal, HR and Senior Management
