Sanderson

Sanderson are working with an innovative financial services organisation embarking on an exciting AI transformation journey. With strong backing from the business and genuine enthusiasm for AI adoption across the organisation, they're investing in a Senior AI Engineer who will play a pivotal role in taking AI solutions from concept through to production.

This is an opportunity to join a collaborative technology team where you'll work closely with business stakeholders and product specialists to build scalable, production-ready AI solutions that deliver real business value. Rather than simply developing proofs of concept, you'll be responsible for engineering robust, reusable solutions that become core business capabilities.

As a Senior AI Engineer, you'll combine strong full-stack engineering experience with modern AI technologies, helping shape architecture, establish best practice, and deliver secure, scalable applications. You'll also act as a technical leader within the team, working closely with colleagues across technology and the wider business to educate, influence and drive AI adoption.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and deliver end-to-end AI-powered applications from technical design through to deployment and ongoing support.
  • Build scalable, production-ready AI solutions using modern Azure technologies and cloud-native architecture.
  • Integrate Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and Agentic AI capabilities into business applications.
  • Develop responsive frontend applications alongside robust APIs and backend services to create seamless user experiences.
  • Work closely with Product, Business Change and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Design reusable components and architecture that can support future AI initiatives across the organisation.
  • Ensure solutions are secure, well-tested, maintainable and aligned with engineering best practice.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to colleagues whilst remaining hands-on with development.
  • Support and continuously improve production services, identifying opportunities to enhance performance and business value.

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong commercial experience as a Senior Software Engineer or AI Engineer with a full-stack Microsoft development background.
  • Extensive experience developing applications using C#/.NET and modern frontend frameworks such as React or Angular.
  • Experience designing and building REST APIs and integrating AI capabilities into enterprise applications.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure, including Azure AI Foundry, Azure AI Services and cloud-native application development.
  • Experience implementing AI solutions including LLM integration, prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and vector databases.
  • Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases, with knowledge of platforms such as SQL Server, Snowflake, OneLake or similar data platforms.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, scalability, CI/CD, DevOps and engineering best practices.
  • Experience working within Financial Services or another regulated environment would be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to work directly with business stakeholders and explain complex technical concepts.
  • A collaborative, hands-on approach with a product mindset, enjoying working as part of a team to deliver practical AI solutions that create genuine business value.

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity offering up to £100,000 (+ benefits) depending on experience. Hybrid working in either the Bristol or London.

Please note: You must have the right to work in the UK to be considered for this position.
