- Job Type: Contract, 36 hours per week
- Salary: £32.76 per hour (Umbrella), £25.57 per hour (PAYE)

Brent Council is seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer / Enforcement Officer to join our Health & Safety Enforcement Team. This role offers a qualified professional the opportunity to play a key role in protecting public health, safety, and wellbeing across the borough.
Day-to-day of the role:- Investigate health and safety complaints and service requests.
- Respond to and investigate RIDDOR notifications.
- Conduct inspections, site visits, audits, surveys, and investigations.
- Assess compliance with health and safety legislation and associated regulatory requirements.
- Take appropriate enforcement action, including serving notices and preparing cases for legal proceedings where necessary.
- Gather and present evidence, prepare witness statements, and attend court or tribunal hearings when required.
- Provide clear, professional advice and guidance to businesses, residents, and stakeholders.
- Manage and prioritise a demanding caseload while ensuring targets and service standards are met.
- A recognised qualification enabling health and safety interventions (Diploma, BSc, MSc in Environmental Health; or NEBOSH qualification).
- Registration with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH).
- Evidence of relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Current experience in health and safety enforcement.
- Strong working knowledge of health and safety legislation and enforcement practices.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to prepare clear, accurate reports and legal documentation.
- Strong investigative, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
- Competent IT and case management skills.
