Ambition Europe Limited

If you're an audit professional with a genuine interest in the charity and not-for-profit sector, this is a rare opportunity to join one of the largest specialist charity audit teams in the UK.

Our client is a well-established, independent accountancy firm based in the City of London. Their dedicated charity and not-for-profit team works with an impressive and genuinely varied range of organisations, including social charities, international NGOs, religious orders, arts and culture bodies, care homes, academies, further education colleges, and universities.
This is a role where your audit expertise will have real meaning, and where the breadth and variety of the client base will stretch your skills from day one.
What you'll be doing
  • Deliver audit work across a diverse portfolio of not-for-profit and charitable organisations, from social welfare and international development charities to educational institutions
  • Carry out all audit activity in compliance with statutory requirements and the firm's own quality standards and methodology
  • Prepare statutory accounts, including consolidated accounts, from both manual and computerised records
  • Provide accounting support and assistance to clients, including the preparation of working papers
  • Identify and recommend improvements to clients' accounting systems and internal controls, and assist with implementation where needed
  • Lead audit planning in line with auditing standards and the firm's approach
  • Complete audit files through to finalisation, including clearance of outstanding points and review matters, drafting of Audit Highlights Memoranda, management letters, and letters of representation, as well as completing finalisation checklists
  • Brief, supervise, and review the work of junior team members, offering constructive feedback and completing formal review documentation where required
  • Monitor and manage work-in-progress, assisting managers in raising fee notes as early as possible during each assignment
  • Support partners and managers with business development activity, including attending new client meetings, preparing budgets and proposals, and contributing to marketing materials
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of auditing and accounting standards and developments, fulfilling annual CPD requirements and keeping accurate records in line with Audit Regulation requirements
  • Provide technical support to the wider team and clients on specific issues, working in liaison with partners and managers
What we're looking for
  • ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
  • Solid experience of external audit from planning through to full completion
  • Practical experience preparing statutory accounts, including consolidations
  • Confident working with audit software and standard office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to delegate, review, and provide feedback on junior colleagues' work
  • Strong ethical judgement and a professional, conscientious approach
  • Well-organised, self-motivated, and comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Genuine interest in working with charities and not-for-profit organisations
Nice to have
  • Experience with Sage or CaseWare
  • Prior exposure to charity sector clients, Charities SORP, or educational institution audits (academies, further education, or higher education)
Why join

You'll work alongside experienced professionals who will actively support your development, in an environment where your contribution to both client outcomes and team growth is recognised and valued.
  • A collaborative, inclusive culture built on strong professional relationships
  • Active support for your continued learning and career progression
  • Equal opportunities employer committed to fair, merit-based employment decisions
  • [Full benefits details available upon application]
