This organisation is a respected entity within the public sector and operates in the banking and financial services industry. It is a well-established institution with a significant presence in its field, offering opportunities to work on impactful projects that shape the financial landscape.

Description

About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a leading UK economic development bank to hire a Structured Financial Institutions Funding Director within its investment arm.

This is a high-impact role focused on delivering funding solutions to non-bank lenders and supporting SME credit markets. You will join at a pivotal time for the organisation, with a new CEO joining in the coming months and a platform evolving its investment strategy and market positioning.

The role offers the opportunity to help build a private credit book, operate across the capital structure, and establish a strong market presence within a high-profile, purpose-driven institution.

The Role

This is a broad and senior role with a primary focus on structuring, modelling, and execution, while working alongside senior leadership on origination.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading end-to-end execution of structured transactions (£5m-£50m+), including modelling, structuring, negotiation, and closing
  • Analysing underlying credit risk and developing robust cash flow models
  • Executing investments across public ABS, asset-backed finance, and private securitisation
  • Working across the capital structure, with a focus on mezzanine and junior tranches
  • Supporting the development of new structures, products, and funding solutions
  • Managing transaction risk, compliance, and stakeholder engagement
  • Contributing to the build-out of a private credit investment strategy

Origination is largely led by senior leadership, enabling you to focus on execution quality, structuring expertise, and investment judgement.

Profile

Candidate Profile

We are looking for an experienced structured finance professional with a buy-side or principal investing background, ideally from a credit fund or similar platform.

Key experience includes:

  • Strong grounding in credit analysis and cash flow modelling (developed earlier in career)
  • Proven track record executing structured finance transactions
  • Experience across ABS / asset-backed finance, including mezzanine and junior investments
  • Exposure to private securitisation, block funding, or SRT-type structures
  • Experience working on smaller, more complex transactions (c.£5-10m+) as well as larger public ABS
  • Strong commercial judgement and ability to assess risk across different asset classes

This is best suited to candidates with hands-on investing experience, rather than purely advisory or structuring-only backgrounds.

Job Offer

  • Why Apply?

    • Join at a transformational point, with new senior leadership and evolving strategy
    • Play a key role in building a private credit book within a high-profile platform
    • Work on complex, differentiated transactions in less crowded areas of the market
    • Gain strong visibility and help shape product and investment strategy
