We're supporting a fast-growing technology business operating within the digital sector that is looking to appoint an experienced Finance Manager on an interim basis to provide maternity cover.
This is a broad, hands-on role with full ownership of the day-to-day finance function. Working closely with the CFO, you'll oversee everything from month-end reporting, financial control, budgeting, cash flow, payroll, and compliance through to supporting commercial decision making across the business. The successful candidate will be someone who enjoys variety, is comfortable operating autonomously, and can quickly become a trusted member of a small, high-performing finance team.
The Role
Reporting directly to the CFO, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the finance function across UK and international entities. This is a genuine all-round Finance Manager position where no two days are the same.
You'll lead the month-end process, oversee transactional finance, manage payroll, produce management accounts, monitor cash flow, ensure statutory compliance, and partner with department heads to support budgeting and commercial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the month-end close, ensuring accurate and timely management accounts are delivered within tight reporting deadlines
- Prepare monthly reporting packs including P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow and variance analysis for senior leadership
- Manage all day-to-day financial accounting activities including journals, accruals, prepayments, deferred revenue, fixed assets and intercompany transactions
- Maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations and ensure strong financial controls are embedded across the finance function
- Prepare VAT returns, support tax compliance, R&D claims and statutory filings
- Own the rolling cash flow forecast, monitor working capital and provide insight into cash performance
- Business partner with departmental managers, reviewing budget performance and challenging expenditure where appropriate
- Work closely with operational teams to ensure customer invoicing, purchase orders and revenue recognition remain accurate
- Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and payroll activities, ensuring smooth day-to-day finance operations
What We're Looking For
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
- Proven experience in a broad Finance Manager or Financial Controller role within a small/growing business
- Strong experience delivering month-end reporting independently and managing the full finance function
- Multi-entity and multi-currency accounting experience
- Strong technical accounting knowledge including statutory reporting, VAT and financial controls
- Experience managing cash flow forecasting, working capital and budgeting
- Comfortable overseeing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and payroll processes
- Experience using cloud-based finance systems such as Xero
- Immediately available
