We are recruiting on behalf of a leading NHS organisation in London for a Fire Safety Project Manager to drive a significant fire safety improvement and compliance programme across a large acute hospital estate.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in safeguarding critical healthcare infrastructure while delivering projects that directly support patient safety, statutory compliance, and operational resilience.

The Role

As Fire Safety Project Manager, you will lead the planning, development, and delivery of fire compliance projects across a diverse and complex estate. Working closely with Estates teams, Fire Officers, Authorising Engineers, consultants, and contractors, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, compliantly, and with minimal disruption to clinical services.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading fire safety improvement and compliance programmes across a large acute hospital portfolio.
  • Managing remedial actions arising from Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs).
  • Delivering compartmentation surveys, intrusive inspections, and passive fire protection projects.
  • Overseeing fire door replacement, fire stopping, fire damper and fire alarm upgrade programmes.
  • Managing project budgets, risk registers, governance processes, and reporting requirements.
  • Producing business cases, specifications, procurement documentation, and tender submissions.
  • Ensuring compliance with NHS Firecode guidance, statutory legislation, and industry best practice.
  • Building strong relationships with operational, clinical, and executive stakeholders.

About You

We are keen to hear from candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Significant experience delivering fire compliance projects within NHS or healthcare environments.
  • Strong knowledge of HTM 05-01, HTM 05-02 and HTM 05-03.
  • Experience managing fire compartmentation and passive fire protection programmes.
  • Understanding of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and Building Safety Act 2022.
  • Proven project management experience within occupied or live operational environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and contractor management skills.
  • Experience managing complex budgets, programmes, and compliance reporting.

Relevant Qualifications

  • Degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, Fire Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • PRINCE2 Practitioner, APM PMQ, or equivalent project management qualification.
  • NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate or equivalent fire safety qualification.
  • Membership of IFE, IFSM, or other relevant professional body.
  • Passive Fire Protection and/or Fire Door Inspection qualifications.
  • Chartered status within a relevant discipline.
